EuroGraps Awards 2018: Tag Team of the Year

The first annual EuroGraps.com Awards looks to recognise the very best in European Wrestling. We put our survey out to a carefully selected panel of journalists and fans from all across Europe to select their top three in a number of categories. 2018’s panel was @MikeKilby, @NordieByNature, @Spoilex16, @GaryOnGraps, @ArnoldFurious, @SarahFlann, @JPJipeee, @marv2punkt0, @ManuRomeroGraps, @TheKingofBoom, @RealPhillipDohm and @theianhamilton. Points were awarded with a first choice receiving 5 points, a second choice receiving 3 points and a third choice receiving 1 point. Not every person surveyed voted on every category.

Tag Team of the Year:

1. Aussie Open – 39pts.

2. Ringkampf – 17pts.

3. CCK – 13pts.

4. Monster Consulting – 10pts.

5. Jay-FK – 8pts.

6. More Than Hype – 5pts.

7. Team White Wolf – 3pts.

8. Arrows of Hungary – 1pt.

Storming out into the distance are the very European tag team Aussie Open. You’d be forgiven for thinking they had been teaming together for years but they’d only been thrown together in July of 2017. Nonetheless, the mixture of high-flying aerobatics from Kyle Fletcher and the hard-hitting offence of Mark Davis never seemed to get boring – with something new being added to every match. The pair held titles in ATTACK!, Defiant, HOPE and PROGRESS and also had a great showing in October’s wXw World Tag Team League. Their match with CCK at Summer Sizzler was sensational. All in all, it will take a lot for them to beat their 2018 this year.

Elsewhere, WALTER and Timothy Thatcher proved they had the chops (heh) in the tag division as well – having a number of superb matches in wXw and beyond; in particular all three of their Block A matches at World Tag Team League are must watches.

Monster Consulting were a fairly new team in 2018, having only formed a few months before the turn of the year. The combination of Julian Nero and Avalanche had worked together as a part of Cerberus in the past – but in 2018 ‘the company’ grew and grew in popularity and became one of the most over acts in wXw. Their wXw World Tag Team Championship reign lasted from April to October but they were unfortunately overshadowed in the company by other storylines which meant they didn’t get the rave reviews that other teams got in Europe this year.
